Some of my recent YouTube videos

Written by Adrian Holovaty on June 9, 2007

Since the freak event of being featured on the YouTube homepage, I've somehow amassed more than 600 subscribers to my YouTube channel. That, plus a lot of positive feedback, has inspired me to record and post more videos.

In the past few weeks, I've posted a bunch, including:

"All The Things You Are," my favorite jazz standard:

An attempt at a note-for-note cover of Django Reinhardt's "Improvisation #2", as it was originally recorded in 1938 (this video features the original Django recording):

My solo-guitar arrangement of Elliott Smith's "Everything Means Nothing To Me" -- a favorite song of mine from Elliott's "Figure 8" album:

My solo-guitar arrangement of "If I Fell," by the Beatles:

"Once Upon A Dream," from the Disney movie "Sleeping Beauty":

I likely won't bore the readers of this blog with more music videos. If you're interested, please do subscribe via my YouTube channel. An RSS feed is also available.

You certainly are one multi-talented individual!

Dude,

We'd appreciate it if you spent a little more time promoting Django and less time on the guitar. The race is almost over already, and you "perfectionists with a DEADLINE" haven't made it to Django version 1.0 yet. Meanwhile, there are dozens of titles on Ruby on Rails, and every day Django and Python become less and less appealing.

Whoa there, Salk! Strange, but I don't feel a need to apologize for spending my free time the way I like to spend it. And I've spent this same amount on guitar ever since before Django was open-sourced; I just didn't record my playing on video until now.

Lovely playing---makes me want to pick up my guitar again. Just so you know, I appreciate you sharing both your music and your programming work.

As a beginning guitarist, I'm quite impressed with the level of virtuosity displayed - you're good! I actually found django the framework while searching for info on Django the guitarist - I wonder now what the Venn diagram of guitarists and Python programmers looks like...
