Wanted: EveryBlock general manager

Written by Adrian Holovaty on March 8, 2011

As EveryBlock has grown, I've started realizing two things:

  • We're at a point where we could really benefit from a strong, business-minded person who can take our company "to the next level."
  • Personally, I'm much happier, and frankly more useful, focusing my efforts on the product than the business end of things.

So I pitched the idea of hiring a "CEO" type person to my msnbc.com colleagues (who own EveryBlock), and to my delight, they were fully supportive of the idea. We just posted a job ad for this new position, which we're calling General Manager; you can read it here. It's based in Chicago with (most of) our team, and I hope you'll pass it along to anybody you think is qualified.

My role will shift to focus on the product instead of running the whole show -- which is essentially what it's been for a while now, but we're making that more official.

On a separate note, I can't believe it's been more than a year since I've posted here. Stay tuned for a backlog of projects, plus some big EveryBlock product-related news. :-)

"On a separate note, I can't believe it's been more than a year since I've posted here." I figured the silence was on purpose (more doing, less talking, that kind of thing) but I'm glad to hear it isn't. Cheers!
