Back in business

Written by Adrian Holovaty on January 2, 2003

As the holidays wind down and my cross-country trips (Gatlinburg, Tenn., to Lawrence, Kan., to Chicago, to Lawrence, then to Chicago again) wind down, it's back into the weblogging routine. Happy new year, everybody, and I apologize for my temporary absence.

Welcome back, Adrian! By the way, do you or any of your site patrons know what's going on with the blo.gs ping service? Been down for days.

Thanks, Jay. I've noticed blo.gs has been sketchy lately, and I don't know why. My workaround is to ping weblogs.com; it seems to be much more stable, and its contents are fed into blo.gs, anyway.

I've been doing both but will probably stop dealing with blo.gs until the problems clear up. Thanks!

here's a thought: contact the site maintainers and ask.

(the problem is fixed. but you might not always get so lucky that i'll happen to read someone else's blog where you decide to leave a comment. :)

the service has been sketchy lately because of the holidays and a move to new hosting. it should be more reliable in the future, except for those times when it is totally broken, i don't notice, and the people who do notice don't bother to mention it to someone who can do anything about it. :)

Thanks, Jim, for the heads up.

I'll make sure to pester you in the future if anything on blo.gs should go haywire. :)
