A career move

Written by Adrian Holovaty on November 26, 2002

Updates to this site have been lighter than usual lately because I've been busy making career decisions and moving preparations.

I've resigned from my job at the Atlanta Journal-Consitution and have accepted a position as lead developer at the Lawrence Journal-World in Kansas. I'll be working with Rob Curley and his outstanding Web team, who have been known in the industry to push the envelope of online journalism.

With that, and a looming deadline for a secret side project I've been involved in, my blogging time has been cut short. I apologize for that.

Congratulations on the new job :) I trust the "secret project" will be revealed here in due time? If so, I look forward to it.

Thanks, Simon!

Yes, the project will be revealed here in due time. I'll be wanting to promote it quite heavily...

Hey, very cool & congrat's! I used to live in Lawrence and still miss that place. Someday I'll go back. But I digress (and have been trying to find some way for about 2 years to use that 'digress' phrase). It'll be interesting to see what changes you may inflict on ljworld (i still go there about once a week).

Way to go, Adrian!

Good Luck Adrian, I hope all goes well, lets hope you can keep up, what in my opinon, is the best "technology" blog out there!

Congrats, my best to you both on the new adventure. And you deserve the gig, almost nobody does what you do as well as you do.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words.

Congrats and good luck. Where's Kansas again?

Atlanta's losing a real talent. Bravo for Lawrence! Best of luck!

Woo Hoo! Some talent out in the big KS! I live just a half hour away from Lawrence. I will be excited to see some fresh work done on the ljworld.com site. I hope all goes well for you. Much love from Kansas City!! - dRu

Hey, good luck in your new position. Sounds like a definite upgrade.

Incidentally, does this mean that there's now an opening for a database special projects-type developer at AJC? ;)

Posted by Chris Willis on November 27, 2002, at 5:57 p.m.:

It's disappointing to see the AJC can't keep talent like you. Though I'm not surprised. Big news organizations have the resources to hire thoroughbreds like yourself but will never let you leave the gate.

Can't wait to see what will bear fruit in Lawrence.

As soon as you get into Lawrence, go to Free State Brewery. Grab a Wheat State Golden (beer) and some Gumbo.

Good stuff.

Belated congratualtions Adrian!

I've been on the road for the Thanksgiving holiday and without Internet and just saw.

Have fun in Lawrence and I look forward to see what changes you and Curley make!

Chris
